FAQ

Why Use a Sleep Sack or Wearable Blanket?

The American Academy of Pediatrics, the National Institute of Health, and safety experts warn against using soft bedding in infants' cribs.  That includes blankets!  A properly fitting, well-constructed sleep sack (also known as a "wearable blanket") is a much safer way to keep a baby that has transitioned from a swaddle (usually around the age of 3 months and older) warm during sleep time.

What about Swaddles?

Swaddles are great for newborns, but when babies start trying to roll over, usually around 3 months, the American Academy of Pediatrics say not to use them.  Bumbershoots by Nana's sleep sacks or wearable blankets (we call them “Bumbers”) are the natural transition from the swaddle.  Sleep sacks are much safer to use as your baby grows.

When Do We Stop Using Sleep Sacks or Wearable Blankets?

Some experts say you can start to introduce pillows, loose blankets, crib bumpers, or other soft objects into a bed after a child is at least 12 months old.  Others say to wait until a child is two years old to be as safe as possible.  Bumbershoots by Nana's sleep sacks/wearable blankets ("Bumbers") fit toddlers up to two and one-half years old.   Older if you custom order a bigger size!

Are Bumbershoots by Nana's Products Machine Washable and Dryable?

Yes!  All of our products, including our beautifully detailed sleep sacks, are made to be durable and easy on parents!  You can machine wash and machine dry them as often as needed.

How Do I Care for my Bumbershoots by Nana Treasures?

All Bumbershoots by Nana's sleep sacks, blankets, and buddies are machine washable and dryable.  Machine wash with cold water and tumble dry on low.  Do not use bleach.  You do not need to iron your sleep sacks, but if you do, touch up the cotton portions only and do so only with a low temperature.

What are Bumbershoots by Nana's Sleep Sacks and Jammies Made of?

Bumbershoots by Nana only uses the highest quality fabrics, both inside and outside our sleep sacks and jammies.  The inside is typically made of the softest flannel or, for lighter weight sleep sacks, luxurious jersey.  The outside fabrics vary in kind from super plush to muslin, but are always high-end, quality, soft fabrics.
