Bumbershoots by Nana's Philanthropy Philosophy
Bumbershoots by Nana is based in family. Nana's grandson - our model-in-chief and chief product tester - inspired Nana to create high-end quality sleep sacks in the first place. He has worn and tested virtually every iteration of our designs. Nana's husband, daughter, stepson, and niece each have helped to bring the vision of Bumbershoots by Nana to reality. They still support the business in a variety of capacities. Moreover, our luxury sleep sacks and jammies are designed for families. We believe caregivers and children all benefit when little ones sleep safely and comfortably through the night. Consequently, our designs were created to foster a safer sleep that supports a child's physical, emotional, and cognitive development. They are easy to use, easy to wash and dry, and they are durable, making them a parent's dream as well. Why? Because family is important to us - your's and our's.
Perhaps because Bumbershoots by Nana is based on and made for families, it has always been important to us to support families in need. In fact, our first donation (to a shelter supporting families escaping domestic violence and trauma), was made even before we launched our website. Philanthropy is a core value of Bumbershoots by Nana.
Since that first donation in 2017, we have sought out other amazing charitable opportunities. Though many are, not all of our donations are based on financial need. Sometimes we just want to give the gift of comfort to families. For example, one year we donated several sleep sacks to parents with infants in NICU at Baltimore's Mercy Hospital. It brought us so much joy to get the pictures of prematurely-born babies and babies battling health issues finding cozy comfort in Bumbershoots by Nana's beautiful sleep sacks.
If you would like to nominate an organization that you would like Bumbershoots by Nana to donate to, please contact us at heather@bumbershootsbynana.com. Identify the 503(c)(3) charity and tell us why they are great. We would love to consider them!
